Saturday 20th August was a day like no other!
Jim, John, Nichola and Helen took part in the FIGMENT event at Derby Silk Mill - an afternoon of artistic playfulness and creative energy, an opportunity to explore new ways to create art, share art, experience art and dream… Figment Derby was the first Figment in Europe as part of an international programme across North America and Australia.
Building on the co-production work we are doing with Derby Silk Mill, we designed our very own Handyside inspired Bridge, made from giant Meccano pieces cut from recycled cardboard. We worked with volunteers, staff and visitors to engage the public to get involved to build the bridge during the event, testing their creativity and engineering ingenuity.
We’re pleased to report that our co-creation bridge was a success, allowing children of all ages to cross our very own makeshift River Derwent, and learn a little about the project at the same time. That is until the makers had a go….!
The day was lots of fun and laughs all round - thank you team FIGMENT!
