Elmer and Friends Visit the Studio!
Our studio and workshop have been turned into a rainbow filled jungle as we’re preparing for the installation of Elmer and Friends: The Colourful World of David McKee. This brightly coloured, sensory exhibition is now in it’s final stages of creation at The Creative Core.
It’s a hive of activity in the studio as the makers are building the trees, graphic designer Marie is cutting out and arranging the multiple characters you’ll meet and Project Manager Kris is organising the sensory elements such as sounds of whales calling, bright purple monster skin and even smells of elephant poo!
This exhibition focuses on the illustrated books of David McKee and especially the many characters he’s created that children and families have grown to know and love. Characters such as Elmer the Elephant, Mr Benn and the monster from Not Now Bernard (or is the monster actually Bernard himself?!). Visitors will be encouraged to explore this sensory jungle, encountering these characters who tell their stories and with the opportunity to view some of McKee's amazing original artwork.
The exhibition will open at Seven Stories, Newcastle on 8th February and will be touring around the country soon after. For more information, check out Seven Stories' website here.
