Core were commissioned by Preston City Council to design Industrial Revolutionaries, a major exhibition put together to introduce visitors to the lives of the people who created and experienced Preston’s industrial world.
The six-month exhibition included fascinating objects, long-forgotten archive film and street music from 150 years ago. Innovative display was at the forefront of the project and the exhibits, some of them being shown for the very first time, were set in environmental situ and integrated with graphic backdrops.
We also designed a range of low-tech interactives, fun for both adults and children but which also met learning outcomes and criteria set by the National Curriculum. We conducted R&D testing with primary school children as part of the development process to ensure that this key target audience could engage with and understand the learning outcomes required from the historical subject matter.
