The Bar Convent in York is the oldest religious house in England still in continuous occupation of its original site. The client had a collection of objects, and knowledge of the story, but needed interpretive support to develop it further. The Creative Core was appointed to develop the content and tell the remarkable history of The Bar Convent within the wider context of the city of York and county of Yorkshire.
Involved in the project from the start, The Creative Core worked closely with the client to secure funding, attending fundraising events and stakeholder presentations. Successful funding for The Living Heritage Centre meant the Grade I listed building could be transformed with a new exhibition, gift shop and facilities.
With the aim of sharing the narrative, experiences and motivations of people connected with The Bar Convent, past and present, the project has helped to secure a sustainable future for this unique heritage site.
