Historic England turned a former library room in this Grade I listed house into an exhibition space to cater for a number of displays throughout the year.
The Creative Core designed a solution that was flexible for all types of display, whether hanging a painting, displaying a book or showcasing a large artefact. This was completed with low level storage.
The first exhibition, ‘I Love This Place’ used Historic England archive images displayed alongside contemporary photographs. The images contrasted local scenes of landscapes and townscapes, highlighting what has changed and what has stayed the same over hundreds of years.
The exhibition encourages people to look again at the places where they live and inspires children to have a go at building their own street. Visitors can see how the mighty Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough has spanned the Tees unchanged for generations while use of the land around it has changed rapidly.
