Following the closure of Stamford Museum in July 2011, The Creative Core were appointed to develop a concept and interpretation strategy to tell the story of Stamford within a new visitor centre and exhibition space at the town library. Based on a six-metre long tapestry, the main feature of the exhibition is an illuminated magnifier which runs the length of the display case, providing interpretation all the way along.
The Creative Core designed a host of changeable exhibition elements that allow artefacts and social history stories to be easily changed, enabling the visitor centre to become a living part of the community. A magnetic art display wall allows local artists to exhibit their work.
An updatable digital display allows local people to record their stories. Library staff are able to update this themselves to accommodate changing exhibits and maintain the vitality and local identity of the exhibition.
