The Isle of Luing Community Trust appointed Leach Studio to help them tell the story of island life in the Argyll region of Scotland. The new build Atlantic Islands Centre hosts an exhibition about fourteen of the Hebridean islands and complements the displays created by the Luing History Group.
Leach Studio designed an exhibition infrastructure which was easy to transport – a necessity due to Luing’s remote location and the need to use a small ferry to transport materials, whatever the weather.
The story line was split into three themes: Air & Sky, Land & Earth, Sea & Shore. These were presented as ‘wallpaper’ or on portable structures which had sections to hold more in-depth and detailed interpretation.
The former lens from Fladda Lighthouse was reclaimed and displayed as a focal point in the entrance area.
